Scipione Borghese (September 1, 1577– October 2, 1633) was an Italian cardinal, collector and art patron. Member of the Borghese family, he was the patron of the painter Caravaggio and the artist Bernini. He bequeathed to posterity the constitution of the art collection of the Villa Borghese of Rome, a monument of the Roman decoration in what is most extravagant, and which houses the most beautiful collections of baroque sculptures in the world.
