The brilliant lacquer of this writing instrument recalls the royal attires of Elizabeth I, and the royal insignia of the Rose Tudor and the cross of the British crown which adorn the cap, itself crowned by a green cabochon on the clip.

There are also some elements of Elizabeth I childhood: the fine engravings on gold attributes recall the sublime embroidery work produced by it at the age of eleven on the collection "The mirror of the sinful soul" .
