Through the Masters of Art Tribute to Vincent Van Gogh Limited Edition 888, Montblanc famous Vincent Van Gogh, one of the most popular painters of the end of the 19th century. This edition particularly emphasizes his stay in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and Auvers-Oise, with details reminiscent of the Provencal sky and one of his most famous paintings, wheat field with crows. The mention "1889" engraved on the ring of the body, next to the lacquered blue signature of Vincent, commemorates the year of his move to Saint-Rémy. Vincent Van Gogh created memorable works drawing inspiration from the gardens and wheat fields located near the asylum where he lived. Tables of this period, such as the famous wheat field with crows, testify to its artistic maturity and have inspired the palette of colors of the cap of this edition. The inlays in translucent lacquer with the different shades of blue and the 18 k yellow gold skeletal work remind the blue sky and the golden wheat fields of Provence. The stars that shine in the night sky above the wheat fields are represented by the sparkling details of the blue lacquer of the barrel and the Montblanc emblem in 18 K yellow gold, encrusted in the blue lacquer at the top of the hood. Vincent Van Gogh created more than 200 tables in the south of France. He developed a more spontaneous and free style and mastered both the brush and the palette knife, which he used to make thick and daring impairments. The platform clip is inspired by its palette knife, while the blue lacquer at the top of the cap immortalizes its brush strokes. In addition, the upper part of the clip is decorated with a yellow citrine and takes the form of a pipe bowl, a subtle detail that recalls how much he liked to smoke the pipe, as evidenced by his self -portraits . The image embossed on the pen in yellow gold 18 K immortalizes the Amandier canvas in Vincent flowers. His Japanese style of inspiration is part of a movement marked by a craze for Japanese art, known at the time under the name of Japanism. The general silhouette is inspired by a Japanese wood chisel, in tribute to Vincent's fascination for traditional Japanese wood engravings.
