Every striking detail of the cap and clip corresponds to Leonardo's technical inventions powered by gears, while the engravings on the front part and the gold pen at the 750 recall the sketches of the invention of his flying machine. Leonardo's studies of the reflection of convex surfaces are literally reflected in the top of the hood that shows the Montblanc emblem in a hidden mirror.
