James Byron Dean (1931 - 1955) was an American actor and the cultural icon of disenchanted youth and social exclusion, as expressed by the title of his most famous film, "The fury of living" (1955) , in which he interpreted Jim Stark, a fragile teenager. The general form of this writing instrument is inspired by the stop knife used by James Dean in "The Fury of Living".
