During history, great artists have told human experience in a universal language of form and beauty. The Montblanc Masters of Art collection celebrates their eternal contribution to the quest for perfection in art, a quest in which Montblanc pays homage and participates. An artist, thanks to his vision, participated in the emergence of Viennese Art Nouveau and the Golden Age: Gustav Klimt. The Masters of Art Tribute to Gustav Klimt Limited Edition 97 of Montblanc celebrates Klimt's "gold cycle" and takes up the striking elements of his works in his design. The decorated and colorful surfaces of Klimt's "gold cycle" paintings, female portraits at the kiss, are bewitching and resemble an ornamental carpet that would absorb everything except the faces and hands of the characters. In a process of elaborate painting, Klimt has replaced its colors with gold and silver leaves, raised certain parts with bas-reliefs and added mosaics and polished glass. The decoration in yellow gold at the 750/1000 of the Limited Edition 97 is transformed at the level of the cone to offer a graphic mosaic made in white agate and black onyx forming a pattern inspired by the decoration of the portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer and the Stoclet frieze. The end of the cone is encrusted with a green chrysoprase cabochon, a color that evokes spring, the renewal season. For this reason, the green color was chosen to symbolize secession during its foundation in April 1897. In recognition of Klimt's achievements for Viennese secession, the yellow gold inlays at the 750/1000 on the barrel has its secessionist monogram With the GK initials. The tribute to Gustav Klimt Limited Edition is available in just 97 copies, in reference to the year of creation of the Viennese secession: 1897. The building built just a year later to host Viennese secession was both an architectural event New artistic concept and an exhibition space for its affiliated artists. During the inaugural exhibition of 1898, Gustav Klimt presented his painting Pallas Athena, which offers an idealized interpretation of the secession. Athena being the goddess of both war and the arts, she is represented launching the struggle for artistic freedom. The staple coated with specially created is also a reference to the Pallas Athena in Klimt. The slightly curved lines and the three spirals evoke the decoration of the wreck metal frame of the table that Klimt ordered to place its goddess, while the spiral ornament, a typical pattern of jewelry in mycenian gold, echoes Greek origins of Athena. Like a jewel, the writing instrument is decorated with a brilliant cut diamond on each of the three spirals of the clip. The undulation is a visual element to which Klimt uses in several of his works such as the Stoclet frieze, where it forms the branches of the tree of life. On the Limited Edition 97, Klimt's undulations inspired the engravings on the front part in yellow gold at the 750/1000, while the pen made by hand in yellow gold at the 750/1000 and partially rhodiated presents a finely engraved owl. He represents knowledge, wisdom and ideas and was considered the faithful companion of the Greek goddess Athena. The engraving is both a reference to the Pallas Athena painting by Gustav Klimt and the secession building, the side facades of which are decorated with owl sculptures. The pen also carries the number 4810, in reference to the altitude of the highest mountain in Western Europe, Mont Blanc, like the high ambitions of the founding fathers of Montblanc. Like Gustav Klimt, the three founders of Montblanc were passionate pioneers whose projects continue to guide the brand these days.
